How to prep and take care of your tan!

-Shaving, pedicures, and facials should be done at least one day prior to your tanning session.

-Exfoliate with an exfoliating scrub the day before your appointment (St. Ives  Apricot scrub or mix baking soda with your body wash)This will rid the skin of dead cells enabling the tan to last longer. Make sure you do not  over exfoliate or dry out your skin prior to your tanning session.

-No makeup, perfumes or lotions should be worn prior to tanning (could result in streaks and minimal color)

-Deodorant  should also be avoided. Spraying over deodorant will result in green  rings around your underarm, and it’s difficult to remove.

-Wear dark, loose-fitting clothes and flip flops or loose-fitting shoes to wear afterwards.

-Tight  clothing can rub your tan completely off in most areas. It is  recommended to wait at least 5 hours before putting on tight clothing.

-If you choose to wear undergarments or a bathing suit during the session, it’s best to wear darker colors.

How to extend the life of your tan

-We recommend sleeping in your tan or waiting 8 before showering (first shower will be rinse only).

-Do not sit directly on leather or light fabric seats and furniture after your tanning session. Sit on a towel or cloth instead.

-Avoid rubbing your palms against your skin as the solution will turn them a darker color.

-Be careful when washing your hands and other activities that may cause your tan to streak (such as heavy perspiration) until you shower.

-When showering, use body wash or shower gel and avoid bar soap (contains alkaline).

-When showering, use your hand instead of a washcloth. Always pat skin dry. Do not rub.

-You will see color washing off the first time you shower. This is just the cosmetic bronzer that was applied.

-Taking long, hot baths or soaking in the pool or salt water can accelerate exfoliation and fade your tan.

-When swimming or soaking in the hot tub, use a waterproof sunscreen to help seal in the color.

-Avoid exfoliating skin and hair removal products.

-Moisturize twice a day with alcohol-free lotion to hydrate skin. Shea butter is recommended (contains no alcohol) since common lotions use alcohol,  which dries the skin and causes the tan to fade quicker and unevenly.
